The more I looked at it, the more achievable it seemed. Finally, though, I
decided not to go across for three reasons. One, I wasn't in great shape and
was already tired. I didn't really want to pull a death-defying feat while
exhausted. Two, I had my nice digital camera belted to me at my waist. It had
already gotten in the way some in my scrambles just to get as far as I made it.
I decided that next time I try it, I'll just take along a pocket camera.
Things hanging off your body when mistake-free scrambling is required doesn't
seem very smart. Three, I was wearing new hiking boots and hadn't yet gotten
used to where the ends of them were. I had already stumbled a couple times.
So, those were my reasons. Completely logical. Nothing to do with my quaking
legs and dizzy spells. Definitely not because I was chicken. Nope, not at
all. |
